Architectural. Intentional. Unmistakably Melbourne.

Nic and Maddy envisioned  a wedding that felt elevated, yet effortless. A celebration shaped by  atmosphere, exceptional food, and a setting that could hold 180 guests without losing intimacy.

They found it at Zinc. An iconic setting within Federation Square, framed by uninterrupted Yarra river views, Zinc offers a distinctly Melbourne backdrop – bold architecture softened by warm light, open space, and considered detail.

In November 2025, their vision came to life in a celebration that was relaxed, beautifully considered, and full of warmth from start to finish.

Where the celebration flows.

Luxury isn’t about excess. It’s about intention.

Nic and Maddy exchanged vows at St John Greek Orthodox Church on Lygon Street – a meaningful, traditional ceremony surrounded by family. From there, guests made their way to Fed Square by tram, taking in the iconic Melbourne streetscape, before arriving at Zinc where the celebration continued effortlessly.

Whether couples choose an offsite ceremony, like Nic and Maddy, or host their entire wedding day onsite, Zinc allows every moment to flow - from cocktail hour, to dining, to dancing – within a single, beautifully designed environment.

Champagne in hand, river views unfolding, and city lights glowing, the space shifted naturally from refined dinner party to high-energy dance floor, with every detail considered and every guest fully present.

Reimagining the Reception

Nic and Maddy skipped the traditional head table and redefined the dining room. Three long tables anchored the space, with the couple seated amongst their friends and family.

The result was an intimate, yet expansive. Conversation flowed, energy felt connected, and the room was alive with shared moments.

Long lines. Clean silhouettes. Considered styling. Effortless modernity.

Food Takes Centre Stage

At Zinc, food is never an afterthought – it’s central to a couples story.

Guests were welcomed with Aperol Spritz, setting a lively tone, before moving through a menu that blended refinement with fun.

Canapés

·         Salmon crudo

·         Pumpkin arancini

·         Chicken pillow sandwich

Entrée

·         Pan-fried gnocchi with pumpkin, sage and apple cider vinegar

Mains

·         Free-range chicken breast with charred baby corn and leek, saffron dressing and jus gras

·         Roasted barramundi with ratatouille, St John green sauce and soft herb salad

Sides

·         Proper roast potatoes with thyme salt

·         Ramarro Farm green salad

Dessert canapés

·         Chocolate mousse with raspberry and chocolate crumb

·         Lemon curd tart

·         Tiramichoux

The standout?  A Pidapipo gelato cart – a playful nod to one of the couple’s earliest dates. Later, as the dance floor came alive, the kitchen served exactly what guests secretly crave: Cheeseburger sliders with fries. Elevated comfort meets celebration energy.

The details that made it theirs

Every detail was curated without fuss. Individual menus doubled as place cards, each tied with ribbon and personalised with guest nicknames. Bonbonniere of handkerchiefs and sugared almonds offered a timeless nod to tradition. A family friend as MC added warmth and familiarity.

It was thoughtful, personal, and full of heart.

Tradition, energy, and a dancefloor that didn’t stop

Greek and Macedonian dance brackets brought infectious bursts of energy into the night, and Zinc’s open-plan layout allowed the night to expand without interruption. Guests flowed between the warmth of the dining room and the riverfront deck, drinks in hand, city lights reflecting across the water.

A wedding that felt like Melbourne

Nic and Maddy’s wedding is a perfect reflection of what Zinc does best:
- A city setting with personality and presence
- A dining experience designed for connection
- A layout that feels intimate, event with 180+ guests
- A food-led experience that’s endlessly memorable

A celebration that was modern, personal, elevated and distinctly Melbourne.
